Safe Communities Coalition reminds people to drive sober during holidays

The holidays are a time for friends and family to come together and celebrate, and nothing could ruin the holiday season more than a death due to drinking and driving. To spread the message about the dangers of drunk driving, the Wyandot County Safe Communities Coalition and local law enforcement agencies want to encourage people to “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” this holiday season.

HEAP Winter Crisis Program can provide assistance with heating costs

FINDLAY — The Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission’s HEAP 2019 Winter Crisis Program continues through March 31 — as long as funds remain available. This program was created to provide financial assistance, one time per heating season, to income eligible households who are threatened with disconnection of their heating source, have service already disconnected, need to establish new service, seek to transfer service or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel.

Bucyrus post names trooper of year

BUCYRUS — Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Mark H. McLaughlin has been selected as the 2018 Bucyrus Post Trooper of the Year. The selection of Trooper McLaughlin, 42, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2018 at the Marion Post.

United Way having #Give2 challenge

MARION — This holiday season, the United Ways in Crawford, Marion and Wyandot counties invite their communities to join the #Give2 challenge. A collaborative effort between the three organizations, the #Give2 challenge encourages individuals to make a donation to their local United Way equal to just two hours of their pay.

Crawford Park District sets holiday hours

BUCYRUS — The Crawford Park District office and the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center will observe the following holiday hours: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 24, closed Dec. 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 31 and closed Jan. 1. The Nature Center will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 26-29. The Nature Center is closed on Sundays until April.
