Humane Society: July 9, 2019

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Monday and is correct as of that date. Pets reported as missing since the last report that have not been found include a female mostly brown calico cat, a black and white young male husky, a black and white staffordshire terrier mix, a white and tiger neutered male cat, an old white female bichon, a white female great pyrenees, a white long hair female cat with only one eye, a tan female Chihuahua, a male brown pit bull mix, a black male Chihuahua mix with white toes, a red female golden retriever, an orange male cat and a female blue heeler wearing a red or brown collar.

Annual Hardin County Relay for Life is July 19

KENTON — Participants unite for the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Hardin County to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. Join Relay for Life for Christmas in July. The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event to save lives from cancer.

Cooling assistance offered to low-income households

The HHWP Community Action Commission will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program runs from July 1 until Aug. 31. The Summer Crisis Program provides assistance to low-income households with an elderly member (60 years or older), or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health.

Prostate cancer group having meeting Tuesday at WMH

The Wyandot County Prostate Cancer Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday for an open forum on topics of interest to those in attendance in the conference room on the lower level of Wyandot Memorial Hospital. The Wyandot County Prostate Cancer Support Group is a locally-organized support group for men of all ages.

Safety blotter: July 8, 2019

A caller reported an attempted vehicle break-in on the 100 block of Rivers Edge Lane the early morning of July 5. The vehicle was not entered and no damage was done. The responding officers were unable to locate suspects due to a 30 minute time gap from the time of the incident to the call.

Hardin Little Sparks holding summer activities

KENTON — Children, birth to pre-kindergarten, and the parents, grandparents, caregivers or friends that they love are invited to OSU Extension, Hardin’s Little Sparks: Goo Crew summer activities. Lil Sparks: Goo Crew is designed to offer adults and the young children in their lives a variety of activities to encourage social-emotional, cognitive, physical and language development. The program also encourages intergenerational learning and a place for adults to learn more about child development.
