Humane Society: August 15, 2019

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Tuesday and is correct as of that date. Pets reported as missing since the last report that have not been found include An older black lab mix male dog, a black female chow, a black and white long hair cat, a white neutered male great pyrenees, a rottweiler, a black lop eared rabbit, a green eyed tabby cat, a neutered male gray cat, a tan pit bull lab mix, a brown female cocker spaniel, a female doberman, a yellow neutered male cat, a male white English bulldog and a female brown English bulldog.

1,000 books

The Dorcas Carey Public Library congratulates Emersyn Plott for completing the 1,000 Books before Kindergarten Program. This program is offered to newborns up to school age.

Wings and Wheels hosting Brown reception

MARION — Marion Wings & Wheels Inc., a 501(C)(3) organization, has just updated its website with a form for tickets to a “VIP” reception for Dr. Harold Brown, one of the few remaining Tuskegee Airmen, and the Commemorative Air Force Red Tail Squadron (www.redtail.org).

Crawford Park District announces August events

CRESTLINE — The Crawford County Parks District recently announced upcoming events. Feeding Day is 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598. Will it be fruit, vegetables, leafy greens, shrimp, worms or mice? What’s on the menu for the animals in the Nature Center? The Crawford Park District invites families to stop out to find out who eats what and help Lisa feed some of the animals.

Auditions for Children’s Choir are August 26

FINDLAY — The Marathon Center for the Performing Arts is now accepting audition registrations for the 2019-2020 year of the Hancock County Children’s Choir. The Hancock County Children’s Choir is a community-based treble voice children’s chorus. It is open to all 2-5 grade children in the Greater Hancock County area. Any child with an unchanged voice in grades 2 through 5 who can commit to the rehearsal times 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday evenings is welcome to audition for the choir. The first rehearsal begins Sept. 9.

CASA seeking Wyandot County volunteers

Those looking to give back to the community may consider becoming a court appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteer. Children in foster care who have a CASA volunteer are more likely to succeed in school, adjust better to change and they are half as likely to re-enter the foster care system later.

Old Time Duo to perform Thursday

MELMORE — The “Old Time Duo” will appear in concert at 7 p.m. Thursday on the stage of the Melmore Town Hall. This free event is sponsored by the Mohawk Historical Society and the general public is cordially invited to attend. The air conditioned opera house features floor and balcony seating for 150 patrons. The hall is handicap accessible.

Genealogy expert Drain to speak at Wyandot Tracers meeting at Upper library Monday

On Monday, the Wyandot Tracers, OGS Genealogy Society will welcome Christina Yetzer Drain as its guest speaker. She will be presenting a workshop entitled “Online Genealogy Research 101.” This workshop is for both beginners and those who would like to know more about utilizing the many resources available online to help research one’s family tree. The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the basement meeting room of the Upper Sandusky Community Library. Both members and guests are welcome to attend this free workshop.
