The Wyandot County Council on Aging recognized its many volunteers during an appreciation luncheon Thursday. Among the volunteers honored were board members Linden Beck, Bonnie DeTray, B.J. Dunn, Bill Clark, Mickey Ekleberry, Judi Harmon, Anna Mae Huntley, Lisa Hawk, Susie Hawk, Neil Kinley, David Naus, Corinne Newell, Robbi Sigler, Sue Stumpp and Rose Ann Weaver.

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Community Library is teaming up with two area businesses and a nonprofit organization to offer the first Paint the Town Read 5K and Obstacle Challenge as part of its youth and adult summer reading program.

Open Door Resource Center’s Scott Moore presents the second session of Bridges Out of Poverty in Wyandot County on Wednesday after the program came to the county in October. The small group considered stereotypes about poverty and those living in poverty, those in the middle class and wealthy people.

The city of Upper Sandusky on Tuesday replaced about half of the reverse osmosis elements at the water treatment plant in the first of two maintenance phases. On April 4, water treatment plant supervisor Aaron Schoenberger addressed the service committee concerning the replacement of approximately 180 elements or nanofilters.

A shortage of paramedics and emergency medical technicians is an issue Wyandot County Emergency Medical Services has battled for a long time. EMS Director Dale Risley hopes he has found an answer to help solve the problem.

NEVADA — Pioneer Career and Technology Center students teamed up to tackle community service projects in six counties throughout northwest Ohio on Friday, with Wynford students who also attend Pioneer taking on maintenance and cleanup at the Nevada Park and at the school.

In a teary graduation ceremony Tuesday, six Wyandot County residents became the first graduates of Open Door Resource Center’s Getting Ahead course, a series of classes aimed to empower people living in poverty.
