Wyandot County Commissioners Bill Clinger and Steven Seitz and members of the Upper Sandusky Fantasy of Lights committee including Janice Woods, Irv Woods, Sharon McCarthy, Deb Sturgeon, JoAnn Adams-Moll, Linda Debolt, Larry Ratliff and Pat Althouse met Sunday afternoon at the former EMS building to prepare several strings of green and white lights for the Upper Sandusky Courthouse lawn.

The Star Alley sign was reinstalled Friday afternoon in the alley next to the Star Theatre in Upper Sandusky by Eric Gottfried. Gottfried removed the sign at the start of Upper Sandusky’s sewer separation project a year ago with the intent of restoring it.

When Upper Sandusky senior forward Megan Hensel stole the ball and hit an uncontested layup in transition early in the second quarter, it was a sign of things to come. The Upper Sandusky Rams forced 19 turnovers — many of which led to layups in transition — during Friday’s 67-56 season-opening victory over the New Riegel Blue Jackets at Upper Sandusky High School.

CAREY — There wasn’t much doubt which team would win after a dominant first half Friday night in the opening game of Carey’s girls basketball season against Riverdale. The Blue Devils led by 38 points at halftime and would go on to defeat Riverdale 85-44 in a non-conference match-up.
