The 2003 Mohawk state championship softball team was inducted into the Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night at the Masters’ Building.

Nonprofit retirement communities celebrated their best and brightest Thursday afternoon with the Leading Age Ohio Northwest Stars banquet. The event was hosted at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

An Upper Sandusky police officer had his last day on the force Friday. Officer Allen Foust, a 21-year veteran of the Upper Sandusky Police Department, will officially retire on June 2, but with over a month of vacation days saved up, Friday was his last day with boots on the ground.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky exploded in the late innings to beat Bucyrus, 15-4, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Friday. The Rams (7-6, 4-4 N10) scored once in the third inning, three times in the fourth inning, five times in the fifth inning and six times in the sixth inning.

BUCYRUS — Wynford Local Schools has selected an architecture firm for its new high school and middle school buildings. After the Wynford Board of Education meeting Thursday, Superintendent Fred Fox revealed the district had chosen Buehrer Group Architecture out of Maumee as the architecture firm for the new high school and middle school.

A massive oversized load came through downtown Upper Sandusky Thursday morning, escorted down Wyandot Avenue by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, several other vehicles testing for clearance and even men walking on foot.

VANLUE — Alec Loveridge threw a one-hitter to lead Riverdale to an 11-3 victory against Vanlue on Thursday in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game. Loveridge walked one and struck out nine while overcoming four errors by the Falcons (7-4, 5-1 BVC).

Upper Sandusky celebrated all things green Wednesday as it hosted the Northwest Ohio Tree City USA Awards Ceremony at Trinity Evangelical Church. Fifty-five communities in Northwest Ohio have been certified Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
