Carey chamber holds Women’s Luncheon

CAREY — The Carey Area Chamber of Commerce held its 2018 Professional Women’s Luncheon Wednesday at the Our Lady of Consolation Shrine Cafeteria. A welcome and introductions were provided by Wyandot County Visitors Bureau Executive Director Sara Lou Binau and Carey Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cassie Carlson.

State Rep. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) held his second round of office hours Tuesday at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. McClain represents the 87th District, which comprises all of Wyandot, Crawford and Morrow counties as well as parts of Marion and Seneca counties.

Bike Rodeo gives away bicycle

New wheels

An Upper Sandusky girl won a new bike this past weekend at the Wyandot County Health Alliance’s Bike Safety Rodeo, which was held at Upper Sandusky High School. Savana Bradner, who’s 15-year-old hand-me-down bicycle had been declared unsafe at the rodeo, was the winner of a purple Liv Adore 20 girls coaster brake bike courtesy of Kimmel Corporation and Bud’s Bicycle Shop.

SYCAMORE — For as long as she can remember, softball has been a part of Mohawk High School senior Hannah Jordan’s life. On Tuesday at Mohawk High School, Jordan, surrounded by coaches, teammates and her parents, ensured she would continue to play the sport she loves post high school as she signed her national letter of intent to play softball at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU).

SYCAMORE — Bo Smith struck out 15 and stayed undefeated on the mound as he outdueled Cole Widmer in Seneca East’s 2-0 victory against Mohawk on Monday in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game. Smith (5-0) allowed eight hits and one walk but stranded runners by blowing the ball past hitters.

It’s a boy!

An Upper Sandusky couple revealed the gender of their first child in a unique way Saturday afternoon. Keith and Elizabeth Vehrs have been married for nearly three years, and found out they were having a boy when local crop dusting pilot Matthew Arnold of Tactical Agriculture LLC (TACAG) dropped a spray of blue mist from his plane during their gender reveal party.

Upper girls, boys 3rd in Swankhouse

The most challenging thing about the spring this far has been the weather, but it finally took a turn for the better just in time for Saturday’s Swankhouse Invitational at Upper Sandusky. Both the Rams boys and girls finished third, while the short-handed Mohawk boys and girls team both came in eighth. Oak Harbor captured the boys and girls championships.
