Sycamore resident Clara “Mickey” Ekleberry was honored Thursday morning in the Masters’ Building as the Wyandot County Senior Citizen of the Year as part of Senior Day festivities at the Wyandot County Fair. Ekleberry’s accomplishments include being a member of the Wyandot County Council on Aging Board, the Wyandot County Community Foundation board of trustees, volunteering for Wyandot Cares, over 25 years served at the Mohawk Community Library and over 60 years with Saint Pius Catholic Church in Sycamore, among others.

BUCYRUS — The Upper Sandusky girls tennis team got its first win in more than a month, snapping a six-match losing streak with a 3-2 victory against Bucyrus on Thursday at Bucyrus. The Rams (3-8) got a win in both doubles matches and also in the No. 2 singles spot from Mara Smalley.

Art Connections made the best of a bad situation at the Wyandot County Fair this year. Three weeks before the start of the fair, Art Connections Art Director Amber Kahler discovered the Art Connections booth at the Wyandot County Fair Merchants’ Building had suffered water damage to its ceiling and floor. Thankfully, no artwork was damaged,

Tim Tebow has shared his faith with millions of people. On Wednesday night, he brought his message directly to Upper Sandusky. The former Heisman Trophy winner and current minor league baseball player spoke in a packed auditorium of more than 700 people at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church.

BUCYRUS — Led by Caity Schiefer’s 47, the Wynford girls golf team defeated Kenton 227-265 in a nonleague match Wednesday at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. Jordyn Alspach added a 49 for the Royals (11-4). Gabby Johnson carded a 60, and Abi Chester finished with a 71.

The 2019 Wyandot County Junior Fair King and Queen and runners up were named at the 2019 Wyandot County Junior Fair King and Queen Pageant and coronation Tuesday.

For friends and 4EverKids Clover Bud members Lucy Fagan, 7, and Olivia Vent, 6, the junior culinary contests were hard work and friendly competition. Both Vent and Fagan saw their projects through to the end by participating in the baked goods auction Tuesday afternoon at the Wyandot County Fair.

TIFFIN — Mohawk snapped its losing streak and ended Wynford’s Northern 10 Athletic Conference winning streak with a 215-219 girls golf victory Tuesday at Seneca Hills Golf Club.

DOLA — Hardin Northern narrowly avoided a fifth set, beating Riverdale 25-13, 15-25, 25-20, 25-23 in a nonconference volleyball match Tuesday at Hardin Northern.
