County Farm Bureau presidents travel to DC

Wyandot County Farm Bureau President Allan Thiel was one of 90 county presidents, leaders and members of the media who participated in a trip to Washington, D.C., last week. The county presidents’ trip to D.C. is a 70-year tradition of the Farm Bureau, according to a press release from the local group, in which county presidents and leaders advocate on behalf of farmers and landowners.

Riverdale FFA attends workshop

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Two officers and the adviser of the Riverdale FFA chapter recently attended the “Feed the World” Precision Agriculture workshop at Legacy in Custer. The workshop was a partnership between the Ohio Corn and Wheat Association and Legacy.

MARION — The bright yellow aircraft in the center of the hangar was the center of attention at a recent open house at the Marion Municipal Airport. It also was a symbol of opportunity for two neighbors. For one, it meant continuing to chase a life-long passion; for the other, the growth of a steady business operation.

Riverdale FFA seeks nominations

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale FFA chapter is asking area farmers to nominate it for a $10,000 grant through America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education as it plans to install and sustain a hoop greenhouse. America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, gives rural public school districts the opportunity to compete for grants of $10,000 or $25,000 for science and math programs.
