Crawford SWCD reorganizes

New board members

BUCYRUS — The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors reorganized for 2018. Nathan Brause is the chairperson, Paul E. Hartschuh is the vice chairperson, Adam Spiegel is the secretary, Zach Stuckey is the treasurer, and Larry Leonhardt is the fiscal agent.

Wyandot County Commissioner Bill Clinger (right) administered the oath of office for Brian Frisch to begin his second term on the Wyandot SWCD Board of Supervisors. Frisch will serve as vice-chairman for 2018.

Farmers Union Convention slated

COLUMBUS — The 84th annual Convention of the Ohio Farmers Union will feature events and speakers aimed at young and beginning farmers as well as tackle issues important to Ohio’s independent, family farmers. OFU’s convention is Jan. 26-27 at the Columbus Airport Marriott.

Full implementation of fertilizer application certification beginning

KENTON — Northwestern Ohio is seeing full implementation of Ohio’s Agricultural Fertilizer Applicator Certification regulation, which was result of Senate Bill 150, which was co-sponsored by former State Sen. Cliff Hite. The 2014 regulation required farmers to complete a fertilizer certification program if they applied fertilizer to more than 50 acres of land in agricultural production primarily for sale.
