Upper FFA competes in state CDEs

This spring, 34 students from the Upper Sandusky FFA competed in the State Spring Career Development Event Contests. Upper Sandusky had seven different contest areas that students participated in: agronomy, equine management, general livestock, nature interpretation, poultry, wildlife management and dairy cattle.

Tractor Day held as follow-up to National Ag Week at USHS

National Ag Week

The week of March 10-16 was National Ag Week, which is used to recognize and celebrate the abundance that agriculture provides. The main goal is to understand how food is produced; appreciate the safe, abundant and affordable food products in the United States; to value the role of agriculture in the economy; and to acknowledge and consider the careers agriculture provides.

Chapter Degrees awarded

Upper Sandusky Chapter Degree recipients

The Chapter FFA Degree is the highest award an FFA chapter can bestow on its members. In order to receive the Chapter FFA Degree, members must earn a minimum of $150 or work 50 hours through their approved SAE program, complete 10 hours of documented community service, learn parliamentary procedure and participate in various FFA activities.

Soil health and cover crop workshop Friday

The Wyandot and Hardin county Soil and Water Conservation Districts are hosting a Soil Health and Cover Crop workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Wyandot EMS Building, 401 N. Warpole St., Upper Sandusky. During the morning part of the workshop, participants will hear from Jim Hoorman, who is a regional soil health specialist from the northwest region of Ohio and Michigan, Natural Resources Conservation Service.
