MARION — As the Marion Palace Theatre’s $1.8 million ‘Re-Light the Palace Marquee’ project nears completion, the theater’s staff and board of directors are busy preparing for a day of celebration.

MANSFIELD — The Ohio State Reformatory Mansfield has hired Hollywood Special FX legend and director Robert Kurtzman and his team of artists at Creature Corps to create a new Halloween Horror Spectacular.

SYCAMORE — Students from four area high schools will participate in a concert for small ensembles at 7 p.m. Sunday at Mohawk High School.

TIFFIN — What can an artist do with an old piano? In the hands of the right artist, a piano can live a new life as a mythical “Piano Man.” Tiffin University’s Diane Kidd Gallery will host ‘Piano Man,” featuring artist Ken Arthur at its next gallery exhibition. A special opening reception will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

ADA — The Ohio Northern University Department of Music will present guest pianist Jeong-In Kim at 8 p.m. Monday at the Snyder Recital Hall in Presser Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

FINDLAY — Follow the fictional story of a beauty pageant via The University of Findlay’s production of “Smile: The Musical,” to be staged at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17-20 and 2 p.m. Feb. 20 and 21 at the John & Hester Powell Grimm Theatre in the Frank J. Egner Center for the Performing Arts.

ADA — Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present “Picnic” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18-20 and 2 p.m. Feb. 20 and 21. William Inge’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Picnic” is set in an idyllic small town in Kansas with two houses, one backyard and change in the air.

FOREST — Heritage Christian Union Church, 15738 Ohio 37, Forest, is kicking off its winter concert series at 7 p.m. Sunday. Family and friends are invited for an evening of fellowship and music.

Upper Sandusky High School junior Ryan Outland has been selected to perform in the 2016 Ohio Music Education Association All-State Choir on Saturday afternoon at the Cincinnati Convention Center. It is the second consecutive year the junior has been chosen for the choir.

MARION — Generations of readers have fallen in love with Wilbur the pig and his wise arachnid friend, Charlotte, in the storybook “Charlotte’s Web.” Now, the Marion Palace Theatre is set to bring the story to life on stage. Featuring a cast of 29 local youth, the theater will present its first junior stage play for performances at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 20 and 2 p.m. Feb. 21.
