MARION — The former corporate dietitian for United Church Homes and chairwoman of the capital campaign to raise funds for a major renovation of Fairhaven Community has completed a year-long training program designed to develop quality leaders.

BUCYRUS — Students in the Wynford Local School District had the day off Feb. 12 for teacher professional development. But rather than work in their buildings getting trained in what are typical in-service topics, 42 Wynford high school and junior high school educators toured three companies, Advanced Fiber Technology, General Electric and Ohio Mutual Insurance Group, as a part of the WAGE program.

Jacob Conklin, MD, is opening an internal medicine practice in Upper Sandusky at the building near the hospital’s south entrance. Dr. Conklin has worked as a staff physician in Columbus since 2008 and is looking forward to the March 7 opening of his full-time practice in Upper Sandusky, according to a press release.

Miracle-Ear, of Upper Sandusky and part of a nationwide hearing solution franchise, is celebrating its grand opening. The Upper Sandusky Middle-Ear office is part of a franchise that is going on its 24th year of business.

Twenty Upper Sandusky High School junior and senior marketing students will advance to Ohio DECA state marketing competition as a result of their high placement at the recent DECA District 3 marketing competition at Ohio Northern University.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Economic Development Association announced Jennifer Tisone Price has joined the association as acting executive director.

MARION — Noted economist Dr. Ken Mayland will offer his insights into the nation’s economy at a luncheon March 10 at the Marion Country Club. The event is sponsored by Commercial Savings Bank in partnership with the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety Health Administration and other federal safety agencies recently announced in a press release they have designated May 2-6 for their third annual National Safety Stand-Down.

Jan Jacoby, of Carey, is retiring this month after working more than 25 years as a nursing assistant at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. She most recently cared for patients on the night shift in the medical/surgical nursing unit and also has worked in the maternity and critical/coronary units.

Wyandot County Young Professionals will hold its February meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at The Steer Barn restaurant, 1144 E. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky. The agenda for the meeting includes networking, reports and a discussion on establishment of high school young professionals groups.
